Introduction
Right, well, here it is, the "2010 post-recession, everything's going to be absolutely fine... (we hope)" edition of the Frazer Jones Chronicle.
An absence of some eighteen months since our last Chronicle was as a direct result of the entire world losing its sense of humour and us feeling that any form of market reporting was unlikely to be met with much interest. Now that some semblance of normality has returned to the world of recruitment, England's football faithful are back to reminiscing about 1966 and Andy Murray has picked up exactly where Tim Henman left off, we felt we could get back to talking to you about the great and the good of the HR recruitment world....
...so we have herein a few articles covering the hugely diverse topics of emerging employment law trends; the realities of living and working in the Middle East; lessons we've learnt from less fortunate candidates interview experiences; the recruitment approach employed in Australia, the trends affecting Global Mobility at the moment and what it takes to be a true interim specialist.
On top of that we have provided a brief synopsis of the most recent FJ HRD Circle seminar led by Laurence Barrett of Prudential, and we get an insight into the worlds of two HR Directors; John Lucy (Global HR Director, Simmons & Simmons) who shares with us how he learnt Trade Union negotiation the hard way... and what a dubious taste in music he started out with; and Ralph Tribe (Director Business HR & Policy, Sky), a would-be punk rocker who's bed-time, not to mention love of Watership Down, stifled his ambitions of being the next Jonny Rotten.
So take some time out and let Frazer Jones walk you through their world for a few minutes...
